Michael Fong

As mild-mannered dentist by day, but excitable martial arts instructor at night, Michael Fong has treated the teeth of numerous fellow students in both conventional, and not so conventional ways! (Visit Oakhill Dental Surgery for a conventional treatment)

Michael is the head instructor of the Friday night Baulkham Hills class and is responsible for ensuring that each and every student trains hard and leaves exhausted. Michael has over twenty years of experience in training Wu Chu and has competed at numerous tournaments over the years. Michael's tournament success includes:

  • 1st place in the World Martial Arts Games (2000)
  • 1st place in the International Super Martial Arts League (2000)
  • 1st place in the International Sports Karate Association Mens Open Championship (2000)
  • 1st place in the CCP International Martial Arts Championship (1999)
  • 1st place (twice) in the Australian Sports Karate Association Open Martial Arts Championship (1999)
  • 1st place in the National All Styles Tournaments (1998, 1999)
  • 1st place / Gold medal at the 2010 International Shaolin Wuzuquan Federation competition
  • 1st, 2nd or 3rd place in approximately thirty-five other International, National and State tournaments over the years

Michael was personally selected by the late Grandmaster Chee Kim Thong to teach the "Open Mountain" kung fu form back to the chief instructor of the southern Shaolin Temple in Quanzhou, China. Originally from Shaolin, the "Open Mountain" form was one of many lost when the southern Shaolin temple was razed by Qing dynasty warlords.
